Modification de capteurs de pression avec défauts de conception

I have installed in a compressor two pressure sensors to control the pressure output and monitor the pressure input.

I bought a first model which was rusted after 2 months of use. I replaced it by another one built in inox metal. Unfortunately, the last ones failed one week only after installation showing a zero output voltage.

I decided to disassembly the first sensor and was impressed by its internal quality which did not suffer from the rusted housing, it was based on a thick film sensor on ceramics and an amplifier. At the opposite, the second sensor was not really waterproof as the silicon sensor was directly immerged in the fluid. The legs of the component where oxidized.

What to do in such case: find and buy a new one? But then how to be sure of its quality.

I decided to try to use the correct sensor cell with the inox housing. It was unexpectedly easy as the internal diameter was the same for the two sensors. The only tricky part was to disassemble the sensors.

To open it you can use a “Dremel” and saw 24 cuts at the edge of the sensor, then bend all the “hooks” as shown. The you can extract the plastic part from the metal housing. The same process applies for the other sensor.

The idea is the to take the sensor cell of the rusted sensor and to put it in the inox one.

To do so, you have to remove the solder from the plug and the flexible printed board. As well as the wires from the inox plastic plug.
